This year's gubernatorial election belongs to former Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory. Four years ago he ran for governor and lost, nevertheless getting himself out there as a candidate. Since Gov. Bev Perdue's particular failure in Raleigh (she was named the nation's least popular governor), the pendulum has swung much to McCrory's advantage this time around. He has had the time to build up resources and garner support. Meanwhile, Walter Dalton, Lt. Governor in the legislature last session, surprisingly announced his run for governor when Perdue announced she would not be seeking re-election in January. Dalton may have started his campaign late, but someone's got to do it, even if they will surely lose. Leave a Reply. |
