I think Senator Rand Paul makes a great point here. The Republican party over the past years has seemed broken up into separate factions (ie. Tea Party) as opposed to appearing as a united front. In order for the party to be successful in future elections, the Republican party needs to band together and decide on issues they agree on. I also think that Rand Paul's analogy using Dominos Pizza was perfect for his audience of college students.

Rand Paul makes a good point as the Republican party has more of a tainted image as of late. The party needs to admit that they have been approaching issues a bit backwards, and campaign on a new approach if they plan on gaining more supporters in upcoming elections. The analogy of the Domino's pizza is perfect in terms of helping audiences understand the image problems at hand.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results." The Republican party needs to understand and acknowledge that they have been acting backwardly, and respond accordingly. The millennial generation has a completely different set of ideals than any American generation as a whole before them because of our access to knowledge about the entire world, and the Republican party is missing a huge opportunity by not capitalizing on their new, global, more social perspective.

I think that the point Rand is trying to make is a message the the Republican party certainly needs to hear. Many politicians that identify with this party seem to often take an extremely conservative stance, often appearing to do so only to spite or hinder their more liberal counterparts. I think that both parties could benefit from this, but the Republican party could lose quite a lot of ground in the eyes of the public if they do not heed the words of Rand Paul. If the party as a whole were to say "we messed up" (which may involve throwing some party members under the bus in the process, then they may be able to move forward and gain more ground with the public, and particularly the younger generation.

I think Rand Paul makes a very good point. The Republican party, much like Dominos, has an image problem. If the Republican party can really take a look at itself and how it is represented, they may be able to become a more moderate party again. As it stands, they have been courting the extreme ends of the right-wing and have lost a lot of potential voters. However, if Rand Paul says one thing, but the Republican party does nothing to change their image, then they could face a lot of trouble in future elections. Leave a Reply. |
