This is an important distinction in all UNC decisions. UNC embraces and encourages diversity. In order to successfully welcome diversity, UNC must ensure that all students, not just the majority, feel safe and comfortable here. This is their home for the next four years and it should be a supportive and healthy community for all.

I agree that it is important to recognize that all students' best interests are being protected, but often it is impossible to do so. Inevitably, there are times when the needs of the majority must be sacrificed for the minority, and vice versa. It is important to recognize that in some situations there is not a middle ground, and that until one can be identified, the choice of whose needs will be met should be carefully considered and openly acknowledged rather than denied.

I agree that the safety of all students should be the number one priority of the University. Not just the majority of students, but the entirety of the student body. It is important to support and stand behind every individual that is a part of the community that makes up the University. Leave a Reply. |
