I'm an editor at The Daily Tar Heel, and I really enjoyed editing this article with the writer because of how encouraging the sources' remarks were about UNC. People from UNC as well as other universities, like Wake Forest, remain convinced of this Univeristy's high-quality faculty and bright students despite the academic, athletic, and sexual scandals that have been plaguing us recently. Quotes like this are a nice reminder of our maintained quality as a University.

I really enjoyed reading this quote in regards to the quality of staff at UNC, especially from an individual not related to the university. Some students at UNC constantly question this university, especially when it comes to tuition and increased rates. What they don't realize is that they have access to world-class individuals who come from a variety of esteemed backgrounds and are available to mentor students all the time. The quality of a university is judged by the quality of its staff and students. If our staff is top-quality, so will our students, hence UNC will be among the best. Again, it really just reinforces one of our largest strengths of UNC.

Comments like this are a nice reminder of what a prestigious university we attend, and how lucky we all are to be Tar Heels. While I am not familiar with our debate program here at UNC, I'm sure it is very well structured and maintained just like all the other programs we pride ourselves upon. As a student I try and take advantage of my time here by getting to know my professors on a personal basis because I know that UNC professors are all experts in their fields, and can be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Despite the scandals our university has faced in the past few years, recognition from other schools about our academic excellence helps me remember that we are on the right path to rebuilding ourselves.

I thought this quote was pretty cool because it shows what a great university this is. In my opinion what made this article more interesting was that they mentioned a professor that i had last semester.

I thought this quote provided a great perspective of how great the University is. I have plenty of perspective of other colleges in other categories. As my father is a big UVa fan, I grew up watching Virginia athletics, and I know that they have nothing on Carolina basketball, soccer, or basically any sports. My high school dive team practiced on NCSU's campus, and I know UNC's campus is far more beautiful than State's. But I have never taken a college class anywhere other than at Carolina, so I had no vantage point with which to compare our University's academic prestige. Hearing reputable sources say that Carolina's courses and professors are some of the best in the nation really remind me how great of an opportunity it is to be able to learn at this school, not only because we have awesome sports to watch between study sessions and an astoundingly beautiful campus, but also because I am surrounded by geniuses, both in my peers and in the professors that teach me.
