It's very true for Roy Williams and his team. The winning history of the program was on the tipping point for the rest of the season. If the team does not play great for the rest of the season, their season could be cut short and their final battle could come earlier than later if they let up.

The basketball team really does face such large amounts of criticism for what fans perceive to be sub-par play. At most other universities a first half of the season like we had would be great. Fortunately our early season troubles seem to be behind us.
Looking back at this comment, one can get a great idea of Roy Williams as a coach. Not only does this comment include a touch of Coach Williams' classic dry humor, but it also shows his commitment to his team and his job.
More than anything, it shows how much Williams' words resonate with his players. This comment was made immediately after the team won its fifth straight game; they went on to win seven more and erase all doubt of an NCAA tournament bid.
