Though I understand why this tax has not been implemented before now, I can't help feeling like this was something that should have been done a long time ago. There is no reason why internet sales should not be taxed--especially since the convenience of online shopping is enough of an incentive for customers to buy products via the internet. It's about time they got around to this.

Amazon closed the loop hole. Online buying used to be a loop hole. You used to have to report online purchases on your tax reports but few did because it was easy to keep hidden. Amazon was smart to close the loop hole as long as these taxes in some way go to back to the state and the people that contribute to the site's revenue.
