Verbatim is an online record of public comments made by individuals or issued on behalf of organizations. The purpose of the blog is to highlight the dynamic nature of organizational communication and encourage public discussion.The staff of Verbatim consists of the students enrolled in JOMC 435 “Public Information Strategies” and JOMC 433 “Crisis Communication” taught in alternating semesters by professors Queenie Byars and Napoleon Byars in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Public Information Strategies focuses on the unique role of public information practitioners throughout government and the nonprofit sector. Crisis Communication provides a comprehensive assessment and understanding of the nature of crisis and the role public relations professionals play as communicators.
